How to select the right native plants
There are many options, no matter where you live. Some native plants can thrive in a variety of conditions, other plants prefer wet (or dry), sun (or shade). And, of course, everyone has different interests–rock gardens, foliage, flowers, etc. Here’s help in discovering what might work well for your gardens. These recommendations for Central Virginia come from the first-hand experience of members of The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen. Generally, most plants work as well on the mountain as they do in the valley, unless specifically noted. Click here to see the native plants available from the Nature Foundation at Wintergreen.
