Join Josh Palumbo as we climb into Wintergreen’s past with a trip to the copper mines. This unique spot on the very steep east slope of Crawford’s Knob was an active mine in the late 1890s before being abandoned. Not only are the mines unique but the location is also fascinating, located in a lovely depression along a creek bed acting as home to a variety of wildlife including deer, turkey and of course, bats. This is a trip every Wintergreen resident must put on their “bucket list”. Rated difficult. Bring lunch and plenty of water.
