The Wintergreen Nature Foundation would like to help the teachers in Nelson County enrich the learning experience of their students with new equipment and supplies. With the financial support of the Nelson County Community Fund, The Wintergreen Nature Foundation is able to offer educational equipment and supplies to Nelson County classrooms. Teachers of all grade levels and subject areas in Nelson County public and private schools are eligible to apply. The mission of The Wintergreen Nature Foundation is to encourage the understanding, appreciation, and conservation of the natural and cultural resources of the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. Successful applications will seek supplies and equipment that support environmental and/or cultural education. The majority of Wish List funding will be awarded to applications in the $200 - $300 range. Successful applicants will be contacted for more specific information about the requested items. It would be helpful to keep records of a catalog or web site where the items could be purchased. Decisions about Wish List Program awards will be made and applicants will be notified by December 16, 2011. Items will arrive in classrooms early in the spring semester.
