Time: 1PM - 4PM daily
Daily games, crafts, snacks, and hikes with new friends in the great outdoors... summer afternoons of science and nature study have never been more fun! For Explorers entering 3rd through 6th grades Cost: $120 TWNF members, $130 nonmembers Early Registration - Take $5 off before July 6.
Family Fun
Summer Jubilee
Date: Friday, July 3
Time: noon-6pm

Welcome the summer season with fun and excitement for all! The Trillium House transforms into a family carnival of nature crafts, snacks, games, hikes, entertainment, and prizes. Create a crafting masterpiece, hit the trails for adventure throughout the day, and take in Barefoot Puppets as they again enlighten the whole family with their always-popular, side-splittingly fun puppet shows. Perfect for the whole family.
Journey on the James
Date: Friday, July 17
Time: 9am-5pm
Cost: $70 member pairs, $80 nonmember pairs
Enjoy a day on Virginia 's own scenic James River . Parent-child teams will learn basic canoeing skills by boating down this gentle stretch of water. Along the way, we'll break for a shoreline picnic and explore some of the plants and animals that call the river home. Bring a bagged lunch, plenty of water, and a change of clothes.
Night Hike
Date: Saturday, August 8
Time: 8pm-10pm
Cost: $10 members, $15 nonmembers
Explore the world of the woods after dark with this non-scary walk for parents and children. Simple activities will help us better understand the creatures that are active at night as well as our own responses to the dark. Bring a flashlight or share one of ours.

Tree-mendous

What have trees got to do with me? Plenty! Fun games help us explore these forest giants – who's who and why they're so important. Take home your own wood craft at the end. Dress for the outdoors, ages 4-6.
Splish Splash
Date: Saturday, August 22 
Time: 9am – 11am
Cost: $15 members, $20 nonmembers
What better way to spend a summer day than splashing in a stream?! But where does this water come from and where does it all go? Discover the underwater world and get close to the creatures that live there. Wear shoes that can get wet, ages 4-6.
Native Ways
Date: Saturday, September 5
Time: 9am – 11am
Cost: $15 members, $20 nonmembers
Celebrate Labor Day by trying your hand at the everyday tasks of the Native American children who lived in the Wintergreen woods. Experience how Native Americans ate and dressed, and take part in Native American stories from the woodlands. Dress for the outdoors, ages 4-6.
WILD! Adventurers
Terrific Trees
Date: Saturday, June 27
Time: 1pm – 4pm
Cost: $20 members, $25 nonmembers
Can you see the forest for the trees? They may seem quiet, but trees are full of movement and energy. Fun games along the trail will help us figure out why trees are important to the woods and easy ways to tell which ones are which. Dress for the outdoors, ages 7-12.
Stream Ecology
Date: Saturday, August 22
Time: 1pm – 4pm
Cost: $20 members, $25 nonmembers
What can the animals that live in the stream tell us about the water they live in? We'll find out as we get up close and personal with the stream animals. Real scientific experiments and collecting stream inhabitants make this a fun, wet summer afternoon. Wear shoes that can get wet, ages 7-12.
Survival Skills
Date: Saturday, September 5
Time: 1pm – 4pm
Cost: $20 members, $25 nonmembers
What if you got lost in the woods? Would you know how to survive? First and foremost, learn how to avoid an emergency in the forest. Then, practice basic skills to use in the event of a survival situation, like making a shelter and finding water. Dress for the outdoors, ages 7-12.
