ReDiscover Virginia

From the sandy shores of the Coastal Plains through the Piedmont over the Blue Ridge across the Valley and past the Appalachian Plateau show your students the natural wonders and cultural history this state has to offer as we help you ReDiscover Virginia.

The Wintergreen Nature Foundation at Trillium House presents ReDiscover Virginia; a workshop featuring esteemed scientists, historians and educators from organizations such as Jamestown Rediscovery and The Nature Conservancy.

Topics of discussion include but are not limited to, the role of women in Virginian history, appreciation of nature and conservation, archaeological Native American sites at Wintergreen, the experiences of African American children from Virginia’s founding to the current day, agriculture, and geology.

This workshop is aimed at translating scientific research into a language students will understand. Teachers and researchers will communicate on a level that results in understanding, appreciation and a sense of stewardship for Virginia’s resources by our youngest citizens.

You’re invited to brainstorm with teachers from around the state while working with some of Virginia’s most highly regarded natural scientists and professional historians. Don’t miss this unique educational opportunity!
