2011 ProgramsWinter Lecture Series: History and Sustainability of the Wintergreen CommunityThe Wintergreen Nature Foundation and the Historical Society of Nelson County partner for our 2011 Winter Lecture Series. Previous programs brought the young nation through the “times that tried the souls of men” and the Revolutionary period. This year's programs discuss environment stability at Wintergreen. Topics range from the founders' vision and plans to preserve the environment in the Wintergreen community, to the current issues and state at Wintergreen, to future plans to sustain Wintergreen's community and open space. One major focus will be water. March 19 and March 26, 2011. Spring Wildflower SymposiumIn the early spring before the trees are full, the hillsides are warmed by the sun and the wildflowers are in full bloom. Experience this special time at Wintergreen by attending the Spring Wildflower Symposium May 13-15, 2011. Instructors for the weekend include well known botanists, authors, and artists, each prepared with a full weekend of activities and lectures that will reconnect you with nature WILD! AdventuresEach of our summer activities are designed to excite the budding naturalist within through fun, laughter, and learning. We look forward to making new discoveries with your child. The magic of Wintergreen will captivate your child's imagination as they discover the Blue Ridge Mountains with the Wintergreen Nature Foundation. 17th Annual Golf ClassicThe Wintergreen Nature Foundation will be holding its 17th Annual Golf Classic in the fall of 2011 at Stoney Creek Golf Course. This is one of the great social and sporting events at Wintergreen! In the plans are great prizes, and chances to win a free car on all par 3's, plus and opportunity to win $1,000,000 in the Shenandoah Valley Office Equipment Million Dollar Shoot Out. Join the Foundation for a great day of sportsmanship, fun and a great cause. All proceeds support the Foundation's ongoing educational and research project Fall Foliage FestivalCome one, come all to the Fall Foliage Festival at the Trillium House in October 2011. Enjoy the magic of changing leaves and all the charms of the mountains in autumn. There will be hikes, face painting, pumpkins and more.
