Old Appalachian Trail

Difficulty Level: MODERATE TO DIFFICULT

Key Feature: scenic vistas, hiker’s favorite

A detailed map of all of the trails within Wintergreen maintained by the foundation is available at the front desk of Wintergreen Resort's Mountain Inn and at Trillium House.

This trail has an array of access points and varying hike lengths. Along the trail there are numerous greenstone ledges that provide spectacular views of the south & Shenandoah Valley. Wildflowers are always abundant in the spring and summer. The trail was once part of the official Appalachian Trail and there is an access trail to the current Appalachian Trail on Laurel Springs Drive near Wolftrap Lane which also connects to the old trail as well. Use caution in winter.
